Welcome to ValueOurKids.
These Terms of Use govern your use of the ValueOurKids website and its content, resources, search features, submission forms, and other services.
By accessing or using ValueOurKids, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
ValueOurKids provides parenting information and resources intended primarily for parents and caregivers.
Our content may include:
ValueOurKids is intended to help parents explore ideas, perspectives, and practical approaches. It does not promise that any particular parenting approach will work for your child or family.
Content on ValueOurKids is provided for general educational and informational purposes.
It is not a substitute for individualized advice from a qualified professional, including medical, mental-health, psychological, legal, educational, financial, or other professional advice.
Parenting situations differ, and information that is appropriate for one child or family may not be appropriate for another.
You are responsible for deciding whether and how to use information found on ValueOurKids and for seeking appropriate professional assistance when circumstances require it.
If you believe a child or another person is in immediate danger or experiencing an emergency, contact appropriate emergency services or qualified professionals rather than relying on this website.
Using ValueOurKids, submitting a question, reading a resource, or communicating with us does not create a doctor-patient, therapist-client, attorney-client, counselor-client, fiduciary, or other professional relationship.
Responses, search results, articles, summaries, parent experiences, and other materials should not be interpreted as individualized professional advice.
ValueOurKids may provide Reflection Summaries or other commentary based on videos, interviews, articles, or resources created by third parties.
These materials are intended to help parents understand and reflect on ideas presented in the original resource. Unless expressly stated otherwise, ValueOurKids does not own, control, sponsor, or produce the underlying third-party resource.
A Reflection Summary is not intended to replace the original work. We encourage you to view or consult the original source when appropriate.
References to, summaries of, links to, or embedded content from third parties do not necessarily constitute an endorsement of every statement, opinion, product, service, organization, or viewpoint associated with that source.
Third-party content remains subject to the rights and terms of its respective owner or provider.
What Worked for Parents contains experiences submitted by individual parents and caregivers.
These stories reflect what a particular person reports worked, helped, or was learned in that person’s family circumstances. They are not guarantees, clinical recommendations, professional advice, or evidence that the same approach will produce the same result for another child or family.
ValueOurKids may review submissions before publication and may decline to publish a submission.
We may also lightly edit, format, organize, summarize, categorize, or prepare a submission for publication, including with the assistance of automated or AI-assisted tools, while seeking to preserve the substance of the contributor’s experience.
Publication of a parent story does not mean that ValueOurKids independently verified every factual statement in it or endorses every opinion or parenting approach described.
Parents should use their own judgment and consider their child’s individual needs and circumstances.
If you submit a What Worked for Parents story or other material for possible publication, you represent that:
Because parenting stories can involve children and other family members, please avoid including children’s names, addresses, school names, medical records, or other identifying or unnecessarily sensitive information.
You are responsible for the content you choose to submit.
You retain ownership of original content you submit to ValueOurKids.
When you give ValueOurKids permission to publish a submission, you grant ValueOurKids a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, publish, format, edit, organize, categorize, summarize, and otherwise use that submission as reasonably necessary to operate and present ValueOurKids and its resource library.
This permission includes using the submission in site search, topic pages, related-resource features, and other ValueOurKids features that help visitors discover relevant parenting resources.
It also permits reasonable technical processing needed to operate those features, including the AI-assisted and search processing described in our Privacy Policy.
You may request that a published What Worked for Parents story be corrected or removed by contacting us through the ValueOurKids Contact page.
If we remove a submission from the active site, copies may remain temporarily in backups until those backups are replaced or deleted through our normal backup practices.
ValueOurKids reserves the right, but is not obligated, to review, edit, decline, remove, unpublish, or recategorize submitted material.
We may do so for reasons including:
We will seek to preserve the substance and meaning of parent experiences when making editorial changes.
Submitting content does not guarantee that it will be published or remain published.
ValueOurKids uses automated and artificial-intelligence-assisted tools for certain limited functions, including helping visitors find relevant resources and helping administrators organize submitted content.
AI-assisted outputs and search results may be incomplete, inaccurate, or not appropriate for a particular family or situation.
Search rankings and suggested resources are intended to assist discovery. They should not be interpreted as professional recommendations, assessments, diagnoses, or determinations that a particular approach is suitable for you or your child.
Do not rely solely on an AI-assisted feature when a situation calls for professional judgment or individualized assistance.
More information about how information is processed by these features is available in our Privacy Policy.
Except for third-party materials and user-submitted content, the content and original materials on ValueOurKids—including original text, site design, organization, graphics, branding, compilations, and original editorial materials—are owned by or licensed to ValueOurKids and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
