Rather than presenting one single argument, Yaqeen Institute’s Parenting collection brings together different kinds of material on raising children with Islamic values and character. It includes a mix of formats, such as:
Across these formats, the collection touches on faith, discipline, emotional development, and family life. It continues to grow, so what’s available may change over time. We haven’t reviewed every item in it; think of this page as an introduction, and visit the collection itself to see what’s there today.
You don’t need to work through the collection in order. Start with the question your family is facing now, then follow the papers, videos, or conversations that feel most relevant. The collection can also be something you return to as your children grow and new questions emerge.
IF YOU'D LIKE TO REFLECT A LITTLE FURTHER
No single parenting approach will work identically for every child or family. Age, temperament, developmental differences, neurodiversity, family circumstances, and the seriousness of a particular behavior can all affect what an appropriate response looks like.
Treat the ideas in this resource as invitations to reflect rather than rules that must be applied perfectly. Parents may find some approaches especially useful while adapting others to the needs of their own family.
